The Alexander Turnbull Library has a mandate to preserve, protect, develop and make accessible for all the people of New Zealand the collections of that Library in perpetuity and in a manner consistent with their status as documentary heritage and taonga.
In this role, you will provide leadership and advocacy for researchers who have a special interest in the history Pacific Islanders in the Pacific and New Zealand. You will develop deep knowledge of all our collections and be part of a team delivering quality research services, collection building, outreach, and distance enquiries services.
You’ll be the sort of person inspired by connecting Pacific communities, educators, researchers, and authors with the extensive and wonderful collections of the Alexander Turnbull Library and National Library. You’ll be excited by the challenge to improve our responsiveness to the information needs of Pacific peoples.
For this role, you will need to have a tertiary degree, preferably with a component of New Zealand or Pacific studies and a qualification in librarianship, archives or museum studies. This will be coupled with strong relevant experience. Knowledge of pacific cultures and languages is desirable.
